The results are great for me

I stacked 4 codes, I was happy with the result of the photo I tried (about 10). Today I revisited and was scared of the 1 star earlier review and almost refunded. In fact, I got some other choices both free and paid, like Photokit or Backgroundcut.

I then decided to try Pixmiller in 5 more pics, each about 15 MB or more, before I refund. And the results are incredible: the very small items like my hair are kept to a very detailed level (I don't have a lot of hair left and therefore I appreciated it).

I think Pixmiller is amongst the best background removers I have ever used. I may need to try more pics (especially with low res photos) and the API, but truth is, Pixmiller never fail me so far.

Poor Results

I don't usually write reviews.... I've compared 4 different bg removal services to help the community out.

Of the 4, pixmiller produced the worst results.

* The hair looks unnatural, look like spiky grass.

* It removed 2 of the teeth in my asset

* The other 3 bg removal service I have don't make these mistake.

I rank the quality of BG removal as follows:

#1 Canva

#2 Backgroundcut.co

#3 Slizzler.com

#4 Pixmiller

Compare the results for yourself and let us know what you think: https://d.pr/CWvIYG

Pixmiller, what do you have to say about this? What's the point of having 10k poorly removed bg images? Is this something you guys can improve on? I can wait few weeks before asking for a refund. I will change my review if you guys can fix this in few weeks time.

@Ken Lee: Thanks for your feedback.

Since our service is based on AI technology, the result would differ from the images you upload. And I believe this applies to our competitors if they also adopted AI tech. If you take a close look at the results you sent, Canva also removed some of the teeth.

My point here is, it is really hard to give a fair rank to AI service just based one image. We highly recommend you try more pictures and see how the results are. You can test more pictures with our free version and this would cost no credit. Of course if you are not happy with the result, please feel free to ask for a refund.

BTW, PixMiller is the only background remover that allows user to upload and process images up to 20MB. If you want to process large images, PixMiller should be a great choice for you.

@Coral: Total disagree with your 'fair rank' for AI statement. If your AI isn't learning it will never get better and therefor the service will not compete with other, more advanced options. I too have tried a number of background removal apps, the one that works best for me is Removebg, yes, they all have flaws, but we need to know you are going to keep improving. You didn't offer that in your reply, instead you stated an USP, which, given the review, is irrelevant if all you end up with is a large 20mb unusable image!

@Lee GB: Thanks for pointing that out. Sure we are improving the performance and accuracy of our AI performance. We are consistently improving the process speed and result, but this can't be done on a daily basis. If you are patient enough to follow up on the improvement of PixMiller, you will notice the difference.

@Ken Lee:

Contrary to your test results, Backgroundcut.co is the worst, several others are okay, PixMiller can very well rank second. Also I guess you are referring to slazzer_com, thanks for mentioning it, I think this site can be ranked first.

Of course if you then consider the price, I wouldn't canva (RemoveBG) put in the ranking.

I've tried a few images and it seems to be hit & miss: Some images turn out great, other very similar images, not so great. One image in particular seemed to get a chunk of colour added where the background was removed (I tried the image a few times, always the same result).

My questions;

What's the roadmap like, and how is the system improving?

Will you be adding a 'this is wrong, try again' button?

@Lee GB: Regarding the image with poor result, could you please send me the sample link? Will need to have our tech team take a close a look at it.

If we cannot detect the edge of the object and background, we would provide notice and ask user to upload again. But for AI the biggest problem is how to improve the accuracy. Usually we need more human work to label and identify what are good result and what are bad cases, then use these results to train our AI again. But thanks for making this great suggestion.

Since we highly protect our users privacy, we will only use our test results for machine learning. Later we would ask our users help to get more images of bad results.

@phil: Can you be more specific of how you wish to provide the service? If you want to use the free version, you're good to go just don't forget to cite PixMiller. If you wish to provide HD quality with no watermark, we will need more information to decide how we can partner together.

@Coral: So, say I have a FB group with 500 members (free but can also turn them into a paid membership). As part of being in my group, I plan on offering freebies. 'Come join our group there are lots of freebies' and then we offer a background removal of their FB or LinkedIn profile in HD quality. Usage will be via our account. I guess it is similar to our members sending us their photo and we do the removal. just wondering what is possible
